Student Software
The following software and resources are available to Carthage students, either through their Carthage credentials or at a reduced cost through a portal especially for students. Please consult the list and links below for access instructions. If you are having trouble accessing a particular resource, please email help@253000xa.com.
Ad Astra is cloud-based software that Carthage uses for campus room and vehicle reservations. It is used to schedule campus events as well as classes.
Adobe Creative Cloud includes Adobe Acrobat Pro, Dreamweaver, Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc. Carthage students may purchase a software license at a discounted price at JourneyEd.com. Creative Cloud is also available on select computers around campus.
ArcGIS is geographical information systems mapping and visualization software. It is available on select computers around campus.
Birdie Bucks is a service where students may put money onto their Carthage ID cards and use it to purchase food on campus. Birdie Bucks and the GET app is managed by Carthage College Dining Services. If you have questions or do not have access to this app, please email dining@253000xa.com
ChemDraw is chemistry visualization software available at Carthage through a site license. It is made available through the Chemistry Department. Please contact your Chemistry professor if you need ChemDraw.
CopyLeakes is a plagiarism checker that is integrated into Schoology. If you have questions about CopyLeaks, please email help@253000xa.com.
EndNote Citation Manager is a web browser extension that allows users to organize citations and create bibliographies.

Google Meet is a videoconferencing service available through the Carthage Google Apps suite. Users may record meetings of up to 100 participants. Closed captioning is available and integrates seamlessly into Google Calendar.
Grammarly is a software program designed to support student proofreading and grammar learning in the context of their own writing. Grammarly can also check for plagiarism and offer word choice suggestions. All current Carthage, faculty, staff, and students have access to the full Grammarly software via OneLogin. Users will see a Grammarly icon once logged in to OneLogin.

Handshake is a free job search website that links Carthage students and alumni to job opportunities, internships, mentors, and more. Handshake is managed by the Aspire Center and can be accessed via the OneLogin portal.
The Harbor is a Student Involvement (student organizations, Residential Life, Campus Recreation, etc.) program where students are able to submit event requests that post to a calendar. Students can also track meeting attendance, create budgets, track dues, upload files, etc. It’s mainly for student organizations, but all students are able to utilize The Harbor to learn how to get involved and specifically, sign up for group fitness classes or other leadership applications like Orientation Leaders, Resident Assistants, etc.
Visit OneLogin to access The Harbor. Click “Sign In.” Create an account if this is the first time you are using the app. Contact the Student Involvement Office for more information.
Kanopy is an on-demand streaming video service that offers award-winning collections including titles from PBS, BBC, Criterion Collection, Media Education Foundation, and more.
You will need to access Kanopy through the library’s website to utilize our subscription. Visit Kanopy, scroll down to Kanopy, and click on the link. That will take you to the library’s Kanopy subscription. If you are on-campus you will be able to watch any of the movies now without having to log in. You may create an account if you’d like to create playlists.
If you are off-campus, when you click on Kanopy from the link above, you will be prompted to log in with your Carthage username and password just to verify that you are a member of the Carthage community. Then you will be forwarded to the library’s Kanopy subscription.

LinkedIn Learning is an online learning company that helps users learn business, software, technology, and creative skills to achieve personal and professional goals, taught by industry experts. Visit the LinkedIn Learning site. Click “Sign in” at the upper right. Enter your Carthage email address. Click “Sign in with Single Sign-On.” You will be directed to a log-in screen. Type your Carthage email address and password in the box and click “Sign In.” See our how-to document for further instructions.
Only current Carthage students, faculty, and staff are able to access LinkedIn Learning with their Carthage credentials. Many public libraries offer the service, so alumni may access it through their local library.
Mathematica is computational software used in scientific, engineering, mathematics, and computing fields based on symbolic mathematics. See installation instructions
Current Carthage students have access to MS Office free through the College. Full-time undergraduate students are provided access automatically. part-time and graduate students need to request access by emailing help@253000xa.com. This program is available to active students only, not former students or alumni.
FOR STUDENTS
- Log in to the OneLogin portal with your Carthage username and password.
- Click on the Office 365 icon (it may be under the “Carthage: Everything” tab; if you are a current student and do not see it, please email help@253000xa.com to request it.
- Once inside the Office 365 portal, you may click the “Install Office” button in the top, right. Choose “Install Office 365 apps.”
- Follow the instructions to finish your download and installation. You may install the current version of Office on up to five devices.
- Once the installation is complete, you may need to log in to the software the first time you open it.
Please note:
- If you already have a version of Office on your device, you may need to uninstall that version before installing this one.
- Carthage provides MS Office so users can access Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Other apps may not be available and are not supported. Please do NOT use MS OneDrive to store your work; it is not supported and content may be lost as we delete and recreate users annually. MS Outlook is also not supported.
FOR STAFF/FACULTY
Faculty and staff are not automatically provided a software license since MS Office is installed on your Carthage-issued computer. If you need Office 365 please email help@253000xa.com, then follow the steps above in the “For Students” section.

Navigate is the Student Alert System, used for students to schedule appointments with their Student Success Advisors, Career Specialist, Student Financial Services, and the Registrar’s Office. Navigate allows student success staff to track and evaluate intervention strategies and success metrics of the student population.

Also, see the newspaper in print in the library and our microfilm collection of back issues.
The New Yorker is an American magazine of reportage, commentary, criticism, essays, fiction, satire, cartoons, and poetry. Access the electronic version of The New Yorker magazine. Please email help@253000xa.com for the login credentials.
Package Concierge is an automated delivery system used by the Student Mailroom on campus for students to pick up packages. If you are having trouble with this system, please contact user support at support@packageconcierge.com or 888-989-7225.
PhageHunters is a research-based course in genomics conducted by the Carthage Biology Department. PhageHunters utilizes software called DNA Master. It requires a Windows operating system. If you have a Mac computer, we recommend running the software through a Windows virtual machine (ex. purchase Parallels w/Windows). Please contact your professor if you have questions or concerns with PhageHunters software or recommended hardware.
SciFinder is a research discovery application that provides integrated access to the world’s most comprehensive and authoritative source of references, substances, and reactions in chemistry and related sciences. To access SciFinder, you must create an account while on campus. Visit the registration page to create your own login. SciFinder will then send you an email with a link that you must click on in order to complete your registration. Once your registration is complete, click on the SciFinder link here to access the site.
ScreenPal is a program that allows users to record, edit, and share video with others. To utilize the software, go to OneLogin. Under “Carthage: All Apps” click on the icon for ScreenPal. Click “Log in” in the upper right. Log in via your Carthage Gmail account. Mac users must go into Preferences and Security > Privacy > allow ScreenPal to record the screen.
SimUText is educational software that enables users to create interactive simulated experiments to teach biology. This program is available on all the desktop computers in Hedberg Library.
Spartan Student is software managed by the Carthage Chemistry Department. If you are a student interested in accessing the software for use on a personal computer, please contact Kevin Morris (kmorris@253000xa.com). The software is also available in select computer labs on campus.
SPSS is advanced statistical analysis software. It is available on select computers around campus. The software can also be downloaded here after entering your Carthage credentials. Please consult the instructions below. You will need a license key. Email help@253000xa.com from your Carthage email address to request it. (We will not provide the license key to those outside the Carthage community or those requesting from a-non Carthage email address).
The Carthage Library has a subscription to The Wall Street Journal online. You will access it via OneLogin.
IF YOU’VE ACCESSED WSJ THROUGH CARTHAGE PREVIOUSLY,
- Once you’ve logged in to OneLogin, click “Carthage: Everything.”
- Click The Wall Street Journal icon. If you don’t see it, put “w” in the search box.
- If you are asked to log in, please click “Sign in with Google” and choose your Carthage account.
IF YOU’VE NEVER ACCESSED WSJ THROUGH CARTHAGE,
- Once you’ve logged in to OneLogin, click “Carthage: Everything.”
- Click The Wall Street Journal icon. If you don’t see it, put “w” in the search box.
- If you haven’t used Carthage’s subscription before you will be prompted to register for an account. Follow the instructions for the setup. Your Carthage information should pre-populate. Just choose a password.
- You will access the content through OneLogin with your Carthage username and password next time you want to use it.

Zoom is a video conferencing web resource allowing screen-sharing, and meeting recordings. Zoom is accessible to current Carthage students and employees via the OneLogin portal. Sign in to OneLogin and click on the “Carthage Everything” tab. Look for the Zoom icon and click on it to access the application. You will receive an email to confirm and welcome you to Zoom. An account will be created for you upon the first access through OneLogin.
